Why UdharGuide exists ?
Every month, crores of Indian households book an LPG cylinder, check a subsidy credit, or try to figure out why a refill hasn’t arrived. The information for all of this exists — but it is scattered across three different oil company portals, a dozen IVRS menus, and WhatsApp forwards that are often two years out of date.
UdharGuide is an attempt to put it in one place, in plain language, and keep it current.
We cover LPG booking (Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas), current cylinder prices, subsidy and PMUY, new connections and KYC, cylinder safety, and the complaint process when something goes wrong.
Who runs this site
UdharGuide is run by Pratham, an Android developer based in Ludhiana, Punjab.
I build utility apps for Indian users. One of them is LPG Hub, an LPG booking assistant on the Google Play Store that supports all three distributors. Building it meant spending months inside the actual booking systems — the IVRS trees, the app flows, the SMS formats, the KYC screens, the places where users get stuck. A lot of what I learned did not fit inside an app. It fits here.
I am an LPG consumer myself, with a domestic connection in Ludhiana. Where a guide says “this is what the screen looks like,” it is usually a screenshot from my own account or a test I actually ran.
How we source and check information
- Official sources first. Prices, subsidy rules and scheme details come from the oil marketing companies — Indian Oil (Indane), HPCL (HP Gas) and BPCL (Bharat Gas) — and from Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas notifications. We link the source on the page.
- Verified by doing. Step-by-step guides are written after walking through the process, not from other blogs. Screenshots are our own.
- Dated and updated. Price and subsidy pages carry a visible “last updated” date. Rates revise on the 1st of most months; those pages are revisited then.
- Corrections welcome. If something here is wrong or has changed, tell us and it gets fixed. See the contact page.
What we are not
UdharGuide is an independent guide. We are not Indian Oil, HPCL, BPCL, any LPG distributor, or any government department, and we are not authorised by them. We cannot book a cylinder for you, change your KYC, or release a subsidy. We explain how to do those things with the official channels — and we never charge for it.
