Commercial 19 kg LPG Cylinder Price Today — City Wise Rates and 2026 Trend

If you run a dhaba, a tea stall, a bakery, a canteen or a catering business, the 19 kg commercial cylinder is probably one of your three biggest monthly costs — and in 2026 it has been anything but predictable. The same cylinder that cost ₹1,740.50 in Delhi in February touched ₹3,113.50 by June, then came back down to around ₹2,750.

This page gives you the current city-wise rate, what happened this year and why, and a few practical things every small food business should know about commercial gas.

Current 19 kg Commercial Rate in the Four Metros

City19 kg Commercial
Delhi₹2,747.50
Mumbai₹2,701.00
Kolkata₹2,884.00
Chennai₹2,916.50

These rates took effect on 1 September 2026, when the commercial cylinder went up by ₹9.50 in Delhi. The domestic 14.2 kg cylinder was left unchanged in the same revision — the two prices are set separately and often move in different directions.

What Happened to Commercial LPG Prices in 2026

This has been the most volatile year for commercial gas in a long time. Here is how the Delhi rate moved, revision by revision:

DateChangeDelhi Rate
1 February 2026+₹49₹1,740.50
March 2026+₹142.50₹1,883.00
1 April 2026+₹195.50₹2,078.50
1 May 2026+₹993₹3,071.50
1 June 2026+₹42₹3,113.50
1 July 2026−₹183.50₹2,930.00
1 August 2026−₹192₹2,738.00
1 September 2026+₹9.50₹2,747.50

That May jump of ₹993 in a single revision is the one most restaurant owners will remember. It came as the conflict in West Asia disrupted global energy supply and pushed up the international benchmark prices that Indian LPG is priced against.

Between February and June the cylinder went up by ₹1,373 in total. Since then, two consecutive cuts in July and August have brought back roughly ₹375 of that, and September added a small ₹9.50. The rate today is still about ₹1,000 higher than it was at the start of the year.

What This Means for a Small Business

Numbers like “₹993 increase” are easier to feel when you put them against a real kitchen.

Take a small dhaba that goes through one 19 kg cylinder every two days — about 15 cylinders a month. At today’s Delhi rate, that’s roughly ₹41,200 a month on gas. At the June peak, the same fifteen cylinders would have cost about ₹46,700. In February, around ₹26,100.

Same kitchen, same menu, and the gas bill moved by more than ₹20,000 a month within five months. That’s why so many small eateries quietly raised menu prices this summer, and why it’s worth checking the rate on the 1st of every month rather than assuming.

Why Commercial Gas Costs So Much More Than Domestic

A 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi costs ₹2,747.50. A 14.2 kg domestic cylinder costs ₹942. Even adjusting for the extra 4.8 kg of gas, the commercial one works out to roughly double the price per kilo.

Three reasons:

  • No cushion. The government and oil companies absorb part of the cost of domestic LPG to keep household cooking affordable. Commercial LPG gets no such protection and is sold closer to its actual market cost.
  • Higher GST. Domestic LPG attracts 5% GST. Commercial LPG attracts 18%.
  • It moves with global prices. Because it isn’t cushioned, every swing in international prices passes through to commercial cylinders almost fully — which is exactly why it moved so sharply this year while domestic barely changed.

One thing on the GST side works in your favour: if your business is GST-registered, you can generally claim input tax credit on the GST paid on commercial cylinders. Ask your distributor for a proper tax invoice, and check the details with your accountant.

Using a Domestic Cylinder in a Shop — Why It’s Not Worth It

With commercial gas at nearly three times the domestic price per cylinder, the temptation to run a tea stall or small kitchen on domestic cylinders is obvious. It is also illegal.

Domestic cylinders are meant only for household cooking. Using them for any commercial purpose — including a small dhaba or a food cart — is prohibited, and enforcement teams do carry out raids, particularly around festivals. Cylinders found in commercial use can be seized, and the business can face action under the Essential Commodities Act.

There is a safety angle too. Commercial kitchens use far more gas, often on high-pressure burners, and the insurance cover that comes with an LPG connection only applies when the right cylinder is being used for its intended purpose. A fire in a shop running on domestic cylinders can leave the owner with no cover at all.

The honest arithmetic: one seizure, one fine, or one uninsured accident wipes out years of savings on gas.

How to Get a Commercial Connection

You apply at any Indane, HP Gas or Bharat Gas distributor who supplies commercial cylinders in your area. Expect to be asked for:

  • Identity proof of the owner
  • Proof of the business address
  • Some proof that the business exists — a shop registration, trade licence, FSSAI registration or GST certificate, depending on the distributor

You pay a security deposit for each cylinder and for the regulator. Commercial connections are not rationed the way domestic ones are, so you can book as often as your kitchen needs.

Larger Kitchens: The 47.5 kg Cylinder

Hotels, large caterers and institutional kitchens often use 47.5 kg cylinders instead, which mean fewer changeovers during a busy service. They are priced separately and revised on the same monthly cycle. Your distributor can tell you whether moving to them makes sense for your volume.

When Do Commercial Prices Change?

On the 1st of almost every month. Unlike the domestic cylinder, which can stay unchanged for months at a stretch, the commercial rate is revised far more often, and the direction is hard to predict.

A simple habit helps: check the new rate on the 1st, and if you’re about to place a large order near month-end, think about whether waiting a day or two makes sense — or doesn’t.

Quick Answers

Is the commercial rate the same for Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas?
In the same city, the three are usually identical or very close.

Is there any subsidy on commercial LPG?
No. Subsidy applies only to domestic household connections.

Can I use a commercial cylinder at home?
There’s nothing stopping you legally, but you’d be paying far more than you need to. It makes no financial sense.

Can I claim GST back on commercial cylinders?
Generally yes, if you’re GST-registered and have a proper tax invoice. Confirm with your accountant.

Why did commercial prices fall in July and August but domestic didn’t?
They’re priced separately. Domestic had been held steady during the spike, so there was nothing to bring back down.

Keeping an Eye on It

If gas is one of your biggest costs, the 1st of the month is worth a two-minute check. This year showed how quickly the number can move — ₹1,000 up in a single season and partly back down again.

This page is updated after each monthly revision, and the date at the top shows when. If the rate you paid this month doesn’t match what’s listed for your city, send us the details and we’ll look into it.
